Quire

Quire is a term used to describe a gathering of loose sheets of paper folded into a section of a book or manuscript. Our Quire: A Literary Tract from the Last Press recalls the idea of a medieval quire in that it is a less-than-full-length book selection of pages by a single author. We also recall the earliest chapbooks from the 16th and 17th centuries after printing became ubiquitous enough to become affordable so that the general public could buy literature of all sorts, including poetry and fiction, and even illiterate audiences could enjoy them as these folded sheets were often illustrated and were read aloud.

Except for issue number 1, William Shakespeare, our editorial mission is to present new or overlooked work of excellent quality. Mostly we seek work from living poets and writers, but Chad is always on the hunt for important lost stories or poems from the past as well.

Most issues of Quire: A Literary Tract from the Last Press cost just $15.
